Sunderland's goalless draw with Bristol City at the Stadium of Light means it's now just one win in their last 10 Championship games with Mike Dodds' side now in the bottom half of the league table with just five games remaining.

Interim head coach Dodds was insisting of a response from his players, and rightly so following Easter Monday's humiliating defeat to Blackburn Rovers. But while Dodds did see an improved performance, it wasn't enough to translate into what would have been just a second win of his tenure, with Bristol City goalkeeper Max O'Leary in inspired form.

Sunderland had 20 efforts at goal and were twice denied by the woodwork on what turned out to be another frustrating afternoon - that despite the return of Jack Clarke to the starting line-up after seven games. Clarke was key in Sunderland putting in an improved display, creating several opportunities for his team-mates as well as testing O'Leary a number of times himself but to no avail.

It means Sunderland are without a win at the Stadium of Light since February's success over Plymouth Argyle having also failed to score in three of their last four outings on Wearside as their slump in the second half of the campaign shows little sign of letting up.

Dodds admitted he was disappointed with the result and now faces a tough week on the road with games against Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion - only Rotherham United, who were relegated following their defeat to Plymouth at the weekend, have taken fewer points than Sunderland over the last 10 games.
