Why we think a subscription to We Are Sunderland is essential for any Sunderland fan.

1. We look after our subscribers.

From signed shirts, to bespoke red and white merchandise and Black Cats Bar seasons tickets, we give away something very special multiple times a year. Our most recent giveaway saw one lucky subscriber take home a signed shirt from the 2023/24 campaign.  At the moment, we're giving away TEN of Sunderland's new home shirts for the 2024/25 campaign and they're a work of art!

2. We take tactics and data seriously.

There are still those among us who think 'stats don't tell you anything' but a new generation of fans recognise what people within the game have been cottoning on to for some time - numbers play a crucial part in trying to understand modern football. At We Are Sunderland we'll talk you through some of the finer details of a matchday that you might have missed. We'll back up our opinions on football with the numbers, that you can also impress your mates with down the pub or at five-a-side.

3. Our partnership with Wyscout

This is to ensure the team have the best possible information at their fingertips. Wyscout in one of the leading data providers across the globe, working with several high profile clubs. Their unique data and graphics help show visually, the points made in our articles and give us a unique selling point compared to other local press.

4. Our brilliant morning briefing videos

As a number of you have already noticed, we aim to bring you three video podcasts a week during the season, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9.30 looking at the big Sunderland topics of the week. With our team of writers, columnists and special guests, we aim to keep you informed and entertained. Best of all, it's totally free, increasingly popular and can be found on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook or wherever you get your podcasts from. However, it can only be produced to the high standards we aim for on the back of subscriber support - we are only there for three times a week because of the support of our family of subscribers. You can find our most recent podcast below.

5. Weekly big interviews

While we have talked to big names like Kevin Phillips, Aiden McGeady, Peter Reid, Kevin Ball, Micky Gray and Lynden Gooch, we are also known for our chats with lesser-known members of the Sunderland family. We've made a point of telling stories from the Academy of Light's rising stars - like Chris Rigg's 'iron willed mentality' he's had from a young age - detailing their untold stories. We also look to shed light on former stars in their new careers with Jermain Defoe amongst those who have talked to us about their lives since leaving Wearside and his hopes for the future.

6. We don't forget the fans' view

Richard Easterbrook gives it to you straight with his brilliant weekly article from a fan's perspective. Part of Sunderland's Wise Men Say Podcast, he gives us his verdict every Monday. It can be emotional, as you'd expect from a lifelong fan, his passion and love for the club comes across clearly in every word, making the column a must-read perspective on events at the Stadium of Light.

7. We have brilliant daily newsletters

We believe in providing our content in a way that suits you, wherever you are and one of the ways we do this is via your email inbox with our newsletters. Every day we'll send out our top stories of the day. It's totally free to sign up with just an email address here.

However, subscribers will get exclusive access to our 'From the dugout' newsletter. They'll get an exclusive piece, opinion or newsline, from one of our writers every Monday and Friday so you don't miss a thing.

We also have our We Are Sunderland app, available on Apple and the Google store, which gives our readers a completely ad-free experience, in a world where so much content is unreadable online. Give us a follow to keep up with everything as it happens as well as anniversaries, videos, key quotes and much more. A digital subscription to our website means you'll experience up to 80% less advertising, this means faster loading pages and ultimately a much better user experience.

9. Our unmatched game day coverage

Let's be real for a moment, match reports are very 1996. We don't do them because we don't see the point in talking you through a game you have already watched. Because we are not judged by clicks, we don't have to worry about churning story after story to keep the lights on. Instead, we can bring you what's truly important: which players stood out, what the talking points were and how the manager and players felt about the game by bringing you the full post-match press conference.
