Sunderland Carabao Cup first-round game against Preston North End will be shown on Sky Sports + next month.

The clash at Deepdale will be Regis Le Bris second competitive fixture in the Black Cats' dugout and his second away game on the bounce.

The EFL have now confirmed Sunderland's game against North End will take place on Tuesday, August 13, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Le Bris will be hoping to get his Sunderland tenure off to the best possible start with a trip to Cardiff City on the opening weekend of the season, three days prior to the cup competition.

The Black Cats' Championship curtain raiser at the Cardiff City Stadium will be televised, as will their first home game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday, on August 18.

It means red and white supporters will be able to watch the first three games of Le Bris' tenure on Sky Sports in some capacity.

Sunderland will be looking to make it past the first round of the Carabao Cup for just the second time in five seasons.

The last time they reached the second round of the competition was back in 2021/22 where they reached the quarter finals, but were dumped out of the competition at the hands of Premier League side Arsenal.
