Sunderland will now look to move on from the disappointing Wear-Tyne Derby defeat to Newcastle United and crack on with their January transfer plans.

Early transfer activity has been put on the back burner given the build-up to the derby, but the club will be hoping to bring in a number of additions to strengthen their play-off push between now and the end of the season.

Matty Hewitt and Scott Wilson sat down to discuss the areas that Sunderland should look to strengthen in the January transfer window.

The pair also discussed Jack Diamond's return to the club after the Sunderland winger was cleared of raping and sexually assaulting a woman he had met on a dating app.

Sunderland released a statement earlier this week confirming he would return to the Academy of Light.
